How Much Does a Hotel, Resort or Homestay Website Cost in India? (2026 Prices)

A small homestay or hotel website in India can cost as little as ₹8,000 to build, while a resort that wants online payments and an admin panel usually lands between ₹12,000 and ₹16,000. Full live inventory booking is a much larger project, and for most independent properties it is not worth the money.

The short answer

For an independent property in India, a good website costs between ₹8,000 and ₹16,000 to build with a small studio, plus a yearly cost for hosting, domain and maintenance. A two room homestay sits at the bottom of that range. A resort with several villa types, seasonal offers and online booking payments sits at the top. Quotes in lakhs exist, but they usually include a full booking engine, channel manager integration or ongoing marketing, and most small properties do not need those to get direct bookings.

The price you pay depends less on the number of rooms and more on three questions: do you want to edit rates and photos yourself, do you want to take money online, and do you need live availability. This guide walks through each one with real prices, so you can match the spend to what your property actually needs.

Hotel, resort and homestay website cost at a glance

These are our published plan prices, the same ones on our pricing page. Use them as a benchmark when you compare other quotes, and ask every vendor to fill in the same rows.

What you pay every year after launch

The build price is only part of the cost. A website also needs hosting, a domain, an SSL certificate and someone to fix things when they break. Many low quotes leave these out, and the owner discovers them at the first renewal.

With AlphaX, the first year of hosting, domain and maintenance is free on every plan. From the second year it is ₹4,000 a year, which covers hosting, the domain renewal, SSL and small text and photo edits. So a homestay on the Basic plan costs ₹8,000 in year one and ₹4,000 a year after that, or ₹16,000 over three years in total.

Whoever you hire, ask for the three year number, not just the launch price. The domain should always be registered in your name, with your email as the owner, so you keep it if you ever change designers.

What drives the price up or down

Room count matters less than most owners expect. A page for a fourth room type takes very little extra work once the layout exists. These are the things that really move the price:

  • Who edits the site. If rates, offers and photos change every season, an admin panel (Premium) saves you a call to the designer every time. If the site rarely changes, Basic is enough.
  • Online payments. Taking a booking amount through an Indian payment gateway, with the money going straight to your bank, is the main step up to Professional.
  • Live availability. A real booking engine that blocks dates across room types is a larger project. It is the single biggest jump in cost.
  • Number of languages. A second language version, for example English and Hindi, adds copy and testing work.
  • Photos and copy. We write room descriptions from a short WhatsApp conversation. Photos have to come from you, and a professional shoot is a separate cost if your current photos are weak.
  • Integrations. Connecting a channel manager or property management system is custom work, quoted in writing.

Do you need a booking engine?

This is where most hotel website quotes go from thousands to lakhs, so it is worth being honest about it. A full booking engine with live inventory makes sense for larger hotels with many rooms, high direct traffic and staff who keep availability updated in one system.

For most independent Indian properties it does not pay for itself. Indian guests usually want to ask a question before they pay: is the room on the ground floor, can the driver stay, is the road open in monsoon. A prefilled WhatsApp button on every room page that carries the room type and dates, plus an option to pay a booking amount online, gets you most of the benefit for a fraction of the cost. We explain that enquiry flow in detail in our guide to WhatsApp booking on a travel website, and it works the same way for rooms as for tour packages.

If you already use a channel manager that offers a booking widget, your website can link to it or embed it. That is often cheaper than a custom engine and keeps your availability in one place.

Why a direct website pays for itself

Online travel agencies typically take between fifteen and twenty five percent commission on every booking. On a ₹5,000 room night that is ₹750 to ₹1,250 going to the platform. A few direct bookings a month from repeat guests, and from people who search your property by name, cover the yearly running cost of a website.

A website will not replace the reach of a booking platform, and nobody should promise that. The realistic goal is to stop paying commission on the guests who already know you, and to give a guest who finds you on a platform a reason to book direct next time: a lower rate, breakfast included, late checkout or a free upgrade, stated plainly on the site.

Real hospitality builds you can open

Prices only mean something next to the work. These are hospitality sites we have built. Two are demos made for prospects, and they are labelled that way.

  • Forest Brew Resort, a forest villa resort in Wayanad, live on its own domain. A good example of villa pages, a gallery split by property and surroundings, and direct enquiry.
  • Hotel Mist Wood, a demo built for a hotel in Dalhousie using its real photos and copy. It shows how room pages and a seasonal hill station feel can work on a phone.
  • Ramah Desert Camp, a demo built for a luxury desert camp near Jaisalmer. A camp needs different pages from a hotel: tent types, the evening programme and how to reach the dunes.

How long it takes

Timelines from our own builds: three to five days for a reskin of our hotel layout once your photos and rates arrive, seven to ten working days for an original four or five page build, and twelve to fifteen working days for a larger site with several room types, offers and a blog. The most common delay is waiting for photos, so gather them before you start.

Questions to ask before you pay anyone

Whether you hire us or someone else, these questions protect you from surprise costs later.

  • Is the domain registered in my name and under my email?
  • What is the yearly cost from year two, and what exactly does it cover?
  • Can I edit room rates and photos myself, or is every change billed?
  • Does the online payment go straight to my bank account, and what does the gateway charge?
  • Can you show me live hospitality sites you built, on my phone, right now?
  • If we stop working together, do I get the files and every login?

Frequently asked questions

How much does a hotel website cost in India?
With AlphaX, a hotel website costs ₹8,000 on the Basic plan, ₹12,000 on Premium with an admin panel and ₹16,000 on Professional with online payments to your bank. The first year of hosting, domain and maintenance is free, then ₹4,000 a year. Sites with a full live inventory booking engine are larger projects and are quoted in writing.
How much does a homestay website cost?
A homestay with one to four rooms usually fits the Basic plan at ₹8,000, which covers up to five pages, a gallery, location map and a WhatsApp enquiry button. Hosting, domain and maintenance are free for the first year and ₹4,000 a year after that.
What is the yearly cost of running a hotel website?
Expect to pay for hosting, domain renewal, SSL and maintenance every year. On our plans that is free in year one and ₹4,000 a year from year two, including small text and photo edits. Payment gateway fees are charged by the gateway on each transaction.
Does a small hotel need an online booking engine?
Usually not at first. Most Indian guests want to ask a question before they pay, so a WhatsApp enquiry on every room page plus an option to pay a booking amount online gets most of the benefit at far lower cost. A full booking engine makes sense for larger properties with high direct traffic.
Can a website reduce OTA commission for my hotel?
Yes, for repeat guests and people who search your property by name. It will not replace the reach of a booking platform, but saving fifteen to twenty five percent commission on a few bookings a month usually covers the yearly cost of the website.
